Festive Feelings by Decorating with Balloons
by Brittany Michaels
If you have ever had to contribute to the cost of a wedding you know it is not an inexpensive endeavor. Weddings can be very pricey and if there's a way to cut corners financially without sacrificing the beauty of the event, you'll surely want to do that. There are easy ways to save money when it comes to hosting a wedding. One is to have a cocktail reception as opposed to a sit down dinner and another is to make and place your own decoration. Decorating with balloons can give the venue a wonderfully festive feel without it costing a bundle.
We All Remember Balloons in a Positive Light

When most of us think of balloons we're carried back to our childhoods. No birthday party was complete without the requisite bunch of colorful balloons bouncing around. The balloons were very inexpensive. In many cases you could get a dozen or more for under a dollar. All that was required was that they were inflated and then the decorating with balloons could begin. Hanging them from streamers, placing them on the tables and tying them to string were all popular choices.
Using balloons to enhance a festive celebration has certainly come a long way since those days. Now entire arches and figurines are being crafted from inflated balloons. They often mark the beginning or ending of fun 5K races in the community. Decorating with balloons has become something of an art form and more and more people are choosing it for their weddings.
If you don't want to create these arches yourself, simply find a community class schedule, such as one through recreation centers. Thumb through and find a balloon class. Ask the recreation center for the names and phone number of the instructor who can possibly be hired to create wonderful balloon arches for your next party.

Wedding Balloons: A New Trend
Traditional wedding decorations consisted of a banner with the newlyweds' names on it and some streamers in the same color scheme as the wedding. Usually the attendants would join the happy couple on the night before the wedding to decorate. Any decorating with balloons that was done was limited to a few placed on the corners of tables. The balloons were seen as an addition to the main decorating.
Now the balloons are taking center stage. Many couples realize how cost effective it is to use this type of decoration and they utilize it to its full potential. Many companies now specialize in creating unique, one-of-a-kind balloon sculptures to be used at weddings. Decorating with what I call "wedding balloons" in this way might consist of a white balloon swan near the main entrance or a black and white balloon arch over the dance floor. They are beautiful and creative and add an extra special touch to any wedding.
Finding Balloon Professionals
Ordering one is very simple and really only requires you to know the dimensions of the space the balloon sculpture will be placed in as well as the shape you'd prefer. Most companies who specialize in creating these can even match your color scheme exactly. Then you will be all set to celebrate your wedding in a fun and unforgettable way.
As I mentioned above, you can also check in your community class catalogs for someone who teaches a balloon class. Recently I noticed that there was a class being offered here in my city that was all about how to make party balloons. The woman teaching this class knew how to decorate with balloons and offered the info to the public at a very nominal cost. If you don't have enough time to wait for the class, simply hire out the instructor.
